Google will make display and video advertising simpler from January 18th, 2017. Now the Ad groups with no targeting method selected will automatically be eligible to show on the Google Display Network; but they should have a bid set and at least one approved ad.
Current display and video ad groups that don’t have a targeting method will be paused starting January 18th, 2017 to ensure they don’t show ads you don’t intend to show.
Please remember to always manually pause any new ad groups that aren’t ready or that you don’t want to show ads. It’s also a best practice to evaluate your targeting options whenever you create an ad group, so you can choose the one that best aligns with your business goals.
How to pause, enable, or remove your ad groups:
- Sign in to your AdWords account.
- Click the Campaigns tab.
- Click the Ad groups tab.
- Find the Status column to see the current status of each ad group.
- Click the checkbox beside the ad group or ad groups you want to change.
- Click the Edit drop-down menu above the ad groups, and select Enable, Pause, or Remove.
